Philosophy and Mission

          Embodied Psychology

       Engaging the whole human being

The Embodied Psychology Asociation is a collection of practitioners and modalities supporting the advancement and development of Embodied Psychology.

Our primary mission is to support related workshops, training and students in academic programs in the field of Embodied Relational Psychology. We also support an active exchange of information, research, and best-practice information. We support increased public and professional awareness of the wide range of diversity, activities and benefits of Embodied Psychology.

The Embodied Psychology Certificate Program in Esalen Institute is an example of our activities. The EAP Certificate Program gives participants a foundation in the leading-edge field of somatic psychology. It is designed to meet the needs of professionals, practitioners, and educators as well as individuals interested in learning an in-depth somatic, mindful, psychological perspective and skills.

This program has featured such outstanding instructors as:
Diana Fosha, Mark Ludwig, Diane Poole Heller, Susan Aposhyan, Marti Glenn, Ron Kurtz, Siegmar and Cornelia Gerkin, Bill Bowen, Michael Sieck, Christina Dickinson, Larry Heller, Aline LaPierre, Christine Caldwell Gabriele Hoppe, JoAnna Chartrand, Kathy Kain, and Dyrian Benz.

Embodied psychology recognizes that the power of healing derives from our own ability to bring the light of consciousness and communication to the whole of our being.
Primary influences come from various experiential, mindful, body-centered therapies, as well as from systemic, developmental, psychodynamic, and transpersonal perspectives. The influences from the great wisdom traditions are evident by our inclusion of gentleness, compassion, mindfulness, and the focus on soul and essence. Bringing the individual and being into deep relationship with self, other and the world is the focus of embodied psychology.
